With the right preparation, your Geero is a practical means of transport that is a lot of fun to drive, even in winter. In addition, exercise in the fresh air promotes your health and strengthens the immune system. But: If you send your e-bike into hibernation, you don't have to feel guilty. The only thing to consider is proper storage and care. 1) Storage – Resting does not mean rusting Before you give your Geero a winter break, we recommend a service. At Geero directly, at a service partner or in a specialist workshop. Why? Here, attachments such as the chain, frame and sprockets are professionally cleaned, screws are tightened, the chain is lubricated and more. Careful care prevents long-term rust damage. Your other advantages? You don't have to do it yourself. In addition, the ageing process of your E-Bike is curbed and you can start the spring season again after the winter. 2) Battery Storage – Temperature matters Who likes cold? Not your Geero battery. Specifically, we are talking about temperatures below five degrees Celsius. The colder it gets, the more power your E-Bike's battery cells can lose. If you are the proud owner of a Geero 1 where the battery is not removable, you should store your e-bike indoors or at room temperature during the winter months. The same applies to Geero 2 models, where the battery can easily be removed. You can of course store the E-Bike itself in a carport, bicycle cellar or similar and also protect it with a cover. Professional tip: Remove moisture from your E-Bike at regular intervals when it is parked outside. Keyword: Rust formation. 3) Battery charge – Sometimes less is more You don't always have to be at your limit and give 100 percent. Neither will your Geero battery if you don't use your E-Bike for a long time or put it away for the winter. The following applies to Geero 1 and Geero 2: A battery charge of around 50 percent is optimal in winter. To do this, charge your battery for around half an hour every two to three weeks. 4) Battery range – It’s all a question of distance The range of your E-Bike battery will be reduced in winter compared to spring and summer. There is a simple reason for this: the battery cells no longer work to their full capacity in the cold season. For example, is a trip to work in your Geero worth it? Naturally. Just make sure your E-Bike isn't left outside all day long. If so, take the battery out and take it somewhere warm. 5) Winter driving – Well-maintained is half the battle There are always two sides of a coin. This also applies to road salt in winter. Advantage: It thaws snow and ice surfaces. Disadvantage: Among other things, it attacks the attachments of E-Bikes. Consequence? Rust formation. The good news: You can counteract this successfully and with inexpensive means. Clean your Geero regularly or depending on the level of use and remove salt and other weather-related dirt. By the way, high-pressure cleaners are not suitable for this. You can get suitable care products in retail stores and also at Geero. For the product and its easy application click here. The big advantage of this care product is that it is equally suitable for the frame - yes, it should also be “desalinated” regularly - as well as for cleaning the chain. 6) Tires – Take the pressure out Mud and leaves, freezing temperatures and slippery conditions, rain and snow can increase the risk of problems. You should therefore pay extra attention when driving and starting. Professional tip: Choose the tire pressure slightly lower than, for example, in summer, this increases the contact surface of the rubber on the road. 7) Light – Seeing and being seen Good visibility is the be-all and end-all for driving safety – for yourself and others. If you regularly clean your headlights and reflectors, you will ensure good luminosity on your E-Bike. The winter days are short and dusk can quickly overtake you while driving. Good to know: Geero models without a permanently installed lighting system can easily be equipped with high-quality plug-in lights, such as the Sigma Sport light set AURA 30+ Curve. 8) Outfit choice – Play it safe Statistically speaking, the majority of traffic accidents involving cyclists occur at dusk or in the dark. This is not scaremongering, but a sad fact. The choice of your outfit therefore plays a crucial role. Reflective clothing increases your visibility and therefore safety. Of course, wearing a bicycle helmet is also important. By the way, Geero also offers helmets with integrated lights, the Aduro 2.0 from the Abus brand. Especially in winter, the onion look, i.e. several layers of clothing, with the first layer in particular being breathable, as well as gloves and a hat are a must. 9) Lock – This works like clockwork Do you want to lock your E-Bike but it just doesn't work? Regardless of whether it is a lock with a key or a combination lock: one reason for this could be the aforementioned road salt that has encrusted your security lock. Penetrating oil such as “WD-40”, which you can easily, quickly and easily spray into the cylinder lock, can help. Used regularly, it is a long-term frustration killer. <![CDATA[Your First Ladies E-Bike: Tips For Your Purchase]]> 2023-02-01T00:00:00+01:00 2023-02-01T00:00:00+01:00 https://www.geero.bike/info/geero-blog/your-first-ladies-e-bike-tips-for-your-purchase Geero global@geero.bike https://www.geero.bike/ Your First Ladies E-Bike: Tips For Your Purchase Should I buy an e-bike? With this blog article, we want to help women answer this very question satisfactorily. And if the answer is "yes", immediately give you a few recommendations for your purchase. If you've opened this article, you're probably toying with the idea of switching to - or rather, upgrading to - an electric-powered bike! But since it is a big investment, such a decision should be well thought out. In this article, we dedicate ourselves specifically to e-bikes for women. Although our Geero e-bikes were consciously designed unisex and can of course be driven by all. From conversations with customers, however, we have learned that many women have special cycling needs or requirements for their e-bike that we would like to take into account when advising them. What a women's e-bike should do Application The first question to ask: What do I want to use my bike for? Do I need it primarily for commuting to work and running errands around town? Or do I have extensive bike tours planned? Some models are better suited for sporty cycling, while others are "urbanites" through and through. Gravel roads and uneven terrain pose different challenges to the tires and equipment of the bike than asphalt roads. Do you prefer to curve through the (big) city jungle? A good City e-bike for women is compact, comfortable and can be equipped with all kinds of practical accessories: e.g. a luggage rack, baskets and bike bags for transporting shopping or mudguards to protect your clothes from dirt and splashing water. The Geero 2+ City is our most popular city runabout and optimal for paved, hard-surfaced roads. The seating position is rather upright, slightly tilted forward and the curved handlebars provide additional stability. Weight Especially for women, the weight of the bike is a crucial factor when buying. An e-bike for women should remain suitable for everyday use even with attachments. After all, you do not want it to be a chore when you carry your bike twice a day from the bike cellar and into the stairwell of your office! That's why we have developed our E-Bikes as slim and material-saving as possible: with the result that the women's e-bikes are real lightweights at under 20 kg. At 19.6 kg, the Geero 2 City-Comfort is quite a lightweight e-bike for ladies. Range Do you ride 5 or 50 km to work? Do you use your e-bike daily or mainly for weekly shopping? And do you cruise on level ground or are there several climbs involved? All this influences the requirements for your ladies e-bike. The battery of our Geero bikes has a capacity of 444 Wh. With a full charge, you can get up to 100 km far. However, the actual range always depends on many factors: such as riding style, load and terrain. Tip: In the range calculator from The Cycleverse, you can calculate an approximate guide value. Also, in addition to the capacity of the battery, the efficiency of the motor also plays a role. If you know that you will use your e-bike mainly in flat areas, a rear-wheel motor (also called a hub motor) is the best choice. This protects the chain and is somewhat smaller and quieter than a mid-motor, which in turn performs better on steeper inclines. One point that was important to us in the development of our Geero bikes is the good freewheel. This means that your electric women's bike can be ridden even without or with an empty battery well - like a normal bike. This allows you to switch between riding with and without battery support, depending on the incline and individual effort on the route. And should you ever have a longer stage ahead of you, you can also simply pack a second battery and change along the way. Safety Keyword: brakes! These should do their job without ifs and buts. After all, you might not only be transporting yourself but also have another passenger in the child seat. There are different types of brakes, which are differently suited for different applications. Rim brakes are the "classics" and are used on many first-generation e-bikes, in part because of their retro look. Newer models, such as the Geero 2 series, usually have hydraulic brakes, as these grip even better with more weight, and are easier to apply and "dose." Design Let's face it: functionality isn't everything. The look also counts when buying an e-bike for women. Our conversations with customers have shown that many women are considering the purchase of an e-bike, but are not convinced by the existing designs. The most frequently mentioned factor is the very technical, clunky look of many e-bikes, which is not to their liking. Many prospective customers want an electric bike that is not only maneuverable in city traffic, but also elegant and feminine. Best score for chic looks: Our retro e-bike City-Comfort "Cream" + was awarded the German Design Award 2023. Price Not least, the e-bike purchase is a question of price. Upwards, prices for electric bikes are almost open. From too cheap special offers, however, you should also take distance, because there are usually inferior parts installed, which wear out quickly. An option to save money on the initial purchase is the purchase of a Women's e-bikes on sale. Here it is best to pay attention to how many kilometres the bike has cycled and buy at a specialty store that tests the battery performance in advance. (Used Geero e-bikes you can find heavily reduced in our Outlet.) Finding the right women's e-bike: Checklist The purchase of an e-bike comes with some considerations. Here are once again the most important points summarised to help you with the decision: Application: Shopping, sports, kindergarten cab or commute to work? That determines the type and equipment of the suitable e-bike. Weight: Can you lift the bike on your own and carry it up and down some steps? 20 kg is considered a guideline that a women's e-bike suitable for everyday use should not exceed. Range: The battery capacity alone says little, so always have the quality of the installed motor and your own driving behaviour in mind. Safety: Safety first! In any case, look for excellent brakes that perform well on the respective terrain with the weight you are carrying. Design: Design is, of course, also important when it comes to your bike. Because you will only really enjoy riding if you also like the look of your e-bike. Price: A good mid-range is recommended, so as not to incur expenses or save money in the wrong place. Possible compromise: a used ladies' e-bike. Our tip: Just take a test ride! There are quite a few online tools that recommend size, frame height, inch, model, etc. to you. This can provide a good orientation, but nothing beats a good old test ride. Just get on and start cycling: How do I feel on my e-bike? How are posture and seating position? How well does the bike pick up speed and how quickly does it decelerate? How precisely can it be steered? All of this is important in deciding whether an e-bike will become your e-bike. Fancy a test ride on one of the Geero women's e-bikes? View locations right now and make an appointment. In our Geero e-bike store in Graz, we offer you advice, a test ride and service all in one location. At the age of 12, he discovered his love for skateboarding and pursued it at an international competitive level for years. A time in which Thomas learned to create and fulfil his dreams and visions. “There’s no such thing as no way” mentality At 18, he started his first business with savings from summer jobs and hit the nerve of the times: pocket bikes from China were becoming a hype, and Thomas was the first in Austria to be able to meet the enormous demand. To do this, he had to import an entire container from Asia, as the purchase was regulated with a minimum purchase of 200 pocket bikes. Nevertheless, the mini motorcycles sold out within two weeks through pure word of mouth. The design and construction of model airplanes followed, and with it the independent sales of them on the e-commerce platform E-Bay, which was just emerging at the time. In addition to other business ideas, further training and trips were on the permanent program. At the age of 24, Thomas finally made the career move to Asia and successfully built up his engineering office in Shanghai for ten years using the trial and error principle. In 2011 he joined forces with his brother Michael and established other companies in the micromobility sector. In 2016, the brotherly duo revolutionised the electric bike industry with their Geero e-bikes. A lot has been dared and a lot has been achieved, but what makes Thomas Rath tick and think? You'll read that in the interview! You have already done and tried many things in your life. What drives you? Thomas Rath: I just always followed my heart. I found areas that fascinated me and I pursued them. I love projects that can be completely different. The Geero e-bike is just one example. It starts with an idea, you visualise it in your head, then you work on it for two years or more, and step by step the product emerges and you can touch and feel it more and more. At some point, you sit on it and drive it. Then you see a lot of people on the street using it. This is such an indescribable feeling - because you created this, from start to finish. And the fact that other people not only benefit from it, but also enjoy it, is a multiplier on top of that. So creating and building projects or something is a wonderful, fulfilling process for me and that's what drives me. What was your fascination with developing electric bikes? Thomas: For me it's primarily about the process, i.e. the path from the idea to the goal. I could have developed another product in the field of micromobility instead of the e-bike. I see enormous potential in micromobility for the coming mobility transition and will certainly continue to work in this area for quite some time. But I don't enjoy working on projects alone. I enjoy having like-minded people around me and getting things done together. Like now with the Geero team, where I am surrounded by so many interesting people. With whom I can work well and walk this path together, who enrich me and where I can learn something from each and every one of them. This entire process is the most beautiful thing for me. You have travelled a lot. How have your many stays abroad influenced you? Thomas: You have to find out for yourself what you want in life. My goal has always been that I want to be a happy person. And for me, that simply includes a certain appreciation for people and things. When I travelled, I never travelled as a tourist but lived with the locals everywhere and was often integrated into local families. Ate with them, spent time with them and everything. I was exposed to different cultures, religions, political and social attitudes. It made me question a lot of things: How does this all fit in with how I grew up? With the attitudes, norms and values that I have been taught? That made me rethink and it took me a long time to understand it all. We all wear individually coloured glasses called “culture”, “politics”, “religion” and the like, with which we create expectations and social patterns, even tensions. But in the end, it doesn't matter where someone comes from, what they believe in and all those things. It's about the people themselves. Whether they have a good heart and treat others well. What were the most important inputs that you took away for yourself? Thomas: In Asia, for example, I lived very simply for two years. I'm also a simple person, I don't need much. That was outside of Shanghai, in the industrial area, and I just followed the others there. That means I deliberately had no hot water and no heating for two years (you don't have that there anyway). In winter it is five degrees there and the buildings are not insulated, it is draughty. But that's just how people live there. That was one of the most interesting experiences ever. We are used to it differently in Central Europe - we have heating, often even underfloor heating, we have bathtubs with warm water and so on. But that's nothing special for us here, it's just a matter of course. We have all this comfort and many people are still very unhappy. When you live in a place where you don't have all these amenities, and then you come home, you see how well we have it here. This also requires appreciation for simple things that also make you happy. You lived and worked in Shanghai for over ten years. How did it come about producing the Geero e-bike as locally as possible in Styria? So to act regionally instead of internationally? Thomas: For me, it's just about this appreciation. There are some things you are not aware of in advance, then you travel to other countries, have your experiences and collect many different impressions. And that changes your perspective. For example, I am a person who enjoys being in nature. When I lived in China, they weren't as strict with environmental protection measures as they are today. When I was there I never saw clouds, blue sky or sun. Just smog. That was incredible. And then you come back to Austria and see how beautiful we have it here. Then you develop this appreciation for all of that. Interpersonal relationships are also incredibly important to me. I have had my circles of friends, great people, in every country where I have lived. But I was losing more and more of my family and close friends. And that's something that makes you start to appreciate your comfort zone "home" again. Asia was an experience, no question, but I couldn't imagine that I would live there forever. It was clear to me: I really wanted to go home to Europe again. So I started planning everything for my return. So that I can live and work in Austria. So is home a place for you? Thomas: My home is where I have my comfort zone. And for me, that is my family. I still travel a lot. I have my projects here and there, in the Philippines for example. But my main place of life is in Austria. I most likely want to grow old here. That's why I built my current business in Styria, where my family lives. So for me, home has less to do with a specific place and more to do with people who are very important to me in my life. Do you find inspiration for your projects here? Thomas: For inspiration, I have to get out of my comfort zone again. And I absolutely need the variety. I believe that if you grow up in one place and are always there and see the same things as everyone else every day - meet the same people, get the same input, experience the same things - then you will think the same as everyone else. And then, for example, when you start a company, it will come from an idea like hundreds of thousands of other people have. But when you go out into the world, into other countries, you see completely new things. You come back and look at everything with different eyes. This also affects your ideas. Because when these familiar and new experiences and perspectives flow into one another, inspiration arises for me. You founded and developed Geero together with your brother. What did your parents imagine for you professionally? Thomas: We were really lucky that our parents always supported us as children. They made sure that we got a good education and gave us a lot of time and love. But my siblings and I had to work everything out ourselves. That was a very important life lesson. Our parents never told us what we should become, it was up to us to decide. You have always trusted us. For example, when I started my first business at the age of 18 and wanted to import my first container of pocket bikes from Asia, I went to my dad and told him about it. He just said: Do it! And in this project back then there were endless risk factors. What I didn't know and what I could have done wrong. But I just dared. Imagine if my dad had said: Are you crazy, this is way too risky! My whole life would have been different. Speaking of risk: If something doesn't work out the way you imagine, or a business idea turns out to be a failure - how do you deal with it? Thomas: I've made enough mistakes in life. Luckily, I am grateful for every single one of them. Because that allowed me to grow. There are well-known quotes that basically say: Don't look back, just go on. I have this attitude too. When something happens, whether professionally or privately, I process it and the first thing I think is: What can I learn from all this? What are the lessons I can take away with me? I do that and take with me positive memories of what happened. I focus on the now and the future. If you live in the past, you can't move forward. In 2022, Geero won, among other things, the prize for courage at the Kleine Zeitung's Primus Awards. What does courage mean to you personally? Thomas: I have my values and visions of what I want to do in life. If I'm confronted with challenges that scare me, but it still fits into my concept, I can't say no. Then I have to do that. And that takes courage, in both small and large ways. As much as I'm afraid of certain things. But when you face your fears and overcome them, they disappear. You basically throw yourself in at the deep end, so you develop further. And it is very important to me that I constantly develop myself. Keyword further development. You are still working on your Geero e-bikes. What does quality mean to you? Thomas: I find it sad how important mass consumption is in our society today. We live in a time in which the industry brings short-lived products onto the market and uses its marketing to suggest to people that they can and, above all, should constantly buy feelings of happiness with them. For example, you only need to look at washing machines. Many break down on average after three or four years and can no longer be repaired because spare parts are no longer available. With our knowledge, such as engineering, we could build washing machines that theoretically last 100 years. What is really correct and at the same time sustainable is buying quality. So products that are designed to last or business concepts that are designed for the long term. And the quality of a product is reflected, among other things, in the fact that you can still service it even after ten years because you can still get the spare parts for it. For example, we can still repair the first generation of our Geero e-bikes. By buying quality, you can really make a difference. Finally, what advice would you give your 18-year-old self? Thomas: I would generally say to a young person: have your dreams and dream big. Divide your dreams into smaller units to keep them achievable and don't listen to others. Believe in yourself and do it! If you put yourself into it because you want it with all your heart, then you can make anything happen. And it's like a pattern, you memorise it. This runs through your life. Do you also see this as your life motto? Thomas: My motto in life is that I am in this world to experience and learn as much as possible. There are so many things I still want to see, and so many experiences I still want to have. It's probably not all going to work out, but I want to make the most of my life. <![CDATA[A Geero E-bike for a good cause]]> 2022-12-09T00:00:00+01:00 2022-12-09T00:00:00+01:00 https://www.geero.bike/info/geero-blog/a-geero-e-bike-for-a-good-cause Geero global@geero.bike https://www.geero.bike/ Geero founder Thomas Rath wielded the pen and immortalised his technical sketches on a Geero e-bike frame. Stories that are based on faith and don't take hard knowledge and facts too seriously. Myths stop at nothing and no one. Not even in front of e-bikes. What surprising things haven't you heard and read about the topic? If even a fraction of this were true, then probably no one would own an e-bike, let alone ride one. The fact that electric bicycles have enjoyed increasing popularity over the years is actually enough to put the brakes on various prejudices. A popularity that can also be measured: in 2021 alone, around 220,500 e-bikes were sold in Austria and every third of all bikes sold was an e-bike. Models that were approved for road traffic were particularly in demand. In Germany, another record was reached in the same period with around two million electric bicycles sold. And according to the industry association, the number would have been even higher if the bicycle industry had not struggled with delivery problems in 2021. Incidentally, there are problems that buyers of Geero e-bikes are not aware of. Due to regional manufacturing in Austria, Geero was and is not affected by delivery bottlenecks and the associated delivery problems, but scores points with full product availability. But now we no longer want to withhold from you the 11 most persistent myths about e-bikes - to make you smile, be amazed and think! We will of course provide the relevant information. Myth 1 “E-bikes are only for old people.” We start with one of the most common and – make no mistake – also the most discriminatory prejudices. Aside from the fact that you're only as old as you feel, this myth couldn't be further from the truth. Because e-bikes know neither age nor fitness level limits - thanks to the motor support. In addition, their practical uses are diverse: from stress-free commuting to work and effortlessly running errands, to an environmentally conscious alternative to the car and leisure activities, to sporting activities. The e-bike also offers people who can no longer ride a conventional bike for health reasons or who, for example, return to sport slowly and in a controlled manner after an operation, an optimal way to stay mobile. Myth 2 “E-bikes are mopeds in disguise.” It's time to dispel the rumour that not a single muscle is used for e-bikes, or more precisely pedelecs. No, Pedelecs are not easy to run on their own and that is also reflected in the name: Pedal Electric Cycle. This means that you have to pedal so that the motor provides support if necessary. And only up to a speed of 25km/h. So muscle strength is required! This also answers the question of whether e-biking is a sport – yes. Numerous scientific studies have already clearly shown that regular Pedelec rides are healthy and keep you fit. Cycling is actually one of the healthiest endurance sports of all. Myth 3 “E-bikes have no training effect.” This myth is closely related to the prejudice that Pedelecs are only suitable for – to put it diplomatically – very comfortable people. However, the training effect should still be examined in more detail. Riding an electric bike builds your muscles and increases your fitness and performance. It has been proven that users of e-bikes get on their bikes more often and for longer periods of time than people who ride conventional bikes. The reason for this is simply explained: thanks to the possible motor support, headwinds, further distances, inclines, etc. are no longer a deterrent and the radius of action increases without bikers having to push themselves to their limits. Good tip: The less often the motor is switched on, the longer the range of the battery is. Geero e-bikes inherently impress with a strong power battery. When used optimally, it even has a range of up to 100 kilometres. And because calorie consumption is often an issue in connection with training: When riding a conventional bicycle, it is assumed that around 300 calories are burned per hour - when riding slowly on a straight path. Steep climbs or high speeds can burn up to 1,000 calories per hour or more, depending on the person. When it comes to e-bikes, it is difficult to give exact figures because it depends, among other things, on the person's weight, muscle mass, speed and route conditions and, of course, how often the motor is switched on. However, studies show that in the long term, e-bikers burn at least as many calories as riders of a conventional bike. Myth 4 “E-bikes are so ugly that you can only ride them with a bag on your head.” Of course, we cannot speak for all e-bikes worldwide. But for our various Geero e-bike models, we are putting both hands on fire so that no one needs a bag over their head. On the contrary. But we highly recommend a helmet. We advocate this in the interests of safety. To get back to the look: Our Pedelecs are not only characterised by a stylish, unobtrusive (and even multiple award-winning!) retro design, you can't even tell that they are e-bikes at all. Thanks to the hidden, easily removable battery and whisper-quiet motor. Myth 5 “E-bikes are difficult to maintain.” That depends entirely on the e-bike. What is certain, however, is that careful handling of a Pedelec is also important. So checking tire pressure, lubricating the chain if necessary, and regular cleaning and care are the basics for the bike to function smoothly. Speaking of cleaning: Steam jets and high-pressure cleaners are not suitable for cleaning e-bikes! These devices attack the electric motor, hubs, etc. Water gets in during cleaning, which in the worst case can result in a total electrical failure. Rust can also form when using steam jets and high-pressure cleaners. The battery and motor of Geero e-bikes require little maintenance if handled correctly. If the electronic components still cause problems, call customer support or write an email and our in-house workshop will take care of the problem. Myth 6 “E-bikes are terribly complicated.” We'll say it quite casually: Anyone who can generally ride a two-wheeled vehicle can also e-bike. The battery has to be charged regularly, but that means the socket has to work. And you quickly get used to the support that the engine provides, for example on inclines. The electronic support is displayed on a display mounted on the handlebars. Simply switch the support level higher or lower as needed at the touch of a button and you're done. Some e-bikes require a smartphone app or something similar to start riding. Despite the latest technology, Geero Pedelecs do not require an app to start riding. The display is also easy to handle. The OLED display has been new to the range since autumn 2021. It can do everything the standard display can do. But it is even easier to use, brighter, larger and therefore easier to read. Myth 7 “E-bikes can only be ridden when the weather is good.” In response, we quote from Shakespeare's Hamlet, Act II, Scene IV, Verse 48: "No!" Joking aside. Geero e-bikes, for example, are suitable for every season and are therefore practical and reliable means of transport. And even rain and winter proof. Geero Pedelecs also have hydraulic disc brakes. This means shorter braking distances and good braking effect even in wet conditions. Short errands in wind and weather are no longer an issue. Appropriate caution is of course required in all weather conditions, but this applies not only to e-bikes but to any form of transport on the road. Myth 8 “E-bikes are bulky and heavy.” Another yes answer. Ordinary e-bikes weigh on average between 20 and 25 kilograms. And yes, that means they are a little heavier than conventional bikes. The reason for this lies primarily in the installation of additional components, such as the motor and/or the battery. This makes some Pedelecs appear very massive and bulky. Both points are also a question of design. The well thought-out design of Geero e-bikes not only has a positive effect on the appearance - keyword: slim facade, a lot behind it - but also on the weight. This has been worked on for years and with a lot of know-how. Including the battery, all Geero models weigh under 20 kilograms and are therefore considered lightweights on the e-bike market. Geero Pedelecs also have the advantage that they are as easy to ride as a conventional bicycle in what is known as “freewheeling”. Myth 9 “For e-bikes you need a helmet and a driving license.” Regarding the driver’s license: a clear no. A Pedelec with a motor support of up to 25 km/h is a bicycle under traffic law and you do not need a legal driving license for it. As for the helmet: It is not compulsory from the age of 12 - neither in Germany nor in Austria - but is highly recommended. It has been proven that the head is most injured in bicycle accidents, yet only 57 percent of all e-bike riders wear a helmet. The reasons for this are varied: starting from vanity - helmets ruin your hairstyle - to convenience. But none of these reasons outweigh the idea of security. That's why the following applies in road traffic: Better safe than sorry! Myth 10 “E-bikes are as expensive as a used car.” Here again there is only a clear yes as an answer. Yes, the purchase costs of an e-bike are generally slightly higher. Because quality costs and Geero Pedelecs are not mass-produced goods. But, and this 'but' is very important: They are a well-spent investment that is worth it in the long term. In terms of purchase, fuel and maintenance alone, e-bikes perform better than cars. And the monthly costs for public transport or fuel for the car are also relatively more expensive. Just a conventional bike is generally cheaper. In addition, the Pedelec simply guarantees driving fun. The most important point of all. Because this means you travel with less stress and effort. And mobile independence and self-determination are actually priceless. Good to know: Many companies now also offer company bike leasing. A perfect option to get a high-quality Pedelec cheaply without having to bear the costs all at once. Myth 11 “E-bikes are dangerous.” Well, life itself can be dangerous. Forward-looking and prudent action is essential in every situation. And as far as participation in road traffic is concerned: Unfortunately it is not risk-free - regardless of whether you are travelling on foot or on two, four or more wheels. Overall, riding an e-bike is no more dangerous than riding a conventional bike. And those who control their vehicle and rely on good visibility (such as through reflective clothing) and safety are best equipped. If you still feel unsafe on an e-bike, you should consider riding technique training, which is offered by bicycle clubs, for example. Since, statistically speaking, most accidents involving cyclists happen in the evening or at dusk, a functioning lighting system is of course also the be-all and end-all of bike safety. Geero Pedelecs have a permanently installed lighting system as well as reflectors on the tires and in the spokes. The lighting system is powered by the battery and the light is effortlessly operated via the display. Geero models without a permanently installed lighting system can easily be equipped with high-quality plug-in lights, such as the Sigma Sport light set AURA 30+ Curve , which is of course StVO compliant. Testing is above studying If you want to find out which e-bike myths are true: At Geero you have the opportunity to find out about our Pedelecs online or in person. But it's even better to see for yourself. Simply arrange a test drive and test the theory in practice without any complications. Then you will know whether an e-bike could also be interesting for you personally! <![CDATA[Geero-fit for the E-Bike season]]> 2022-04-06T00:00:00+02:00 2022-04-06T00:00:00+02:00 https://www.geero.bike/info/geero-blog/geero-fit-for-the-e-bike-season Geero global@geero.bike https://www.geero.bike/ A Geero e-bike is always in season. But if you gave it a winter break or even if you braved the cold season and were out and about on your e-bike: There are a few things to consider for your personal start to the season and to give your Pedelec a comprehensive check. Sounds complicated? Not at all. The following tips and tricks do not require rocket science-level expertise or expensive special tools. Of course, you don't have to do the technical part of your all-round check yourself, keyword: specialist workshop. Your Geero Pedelec also offers many other advantages - not only, but also for the start of the season. See for yourself! Basic cleaning – well cared for drives even better Did you put your Pedelec away for the winter but gave it a thorough cleaning beforehand? That was prescient! Nevertheless, it may have collected dust over time. And don't forget those of you who haven't been deterred from driving in the winter by cold, snow and wet conditions. A little cleaning and care for your e-bike is generally beneficial. For basic cleaning, you simply need water, a cleaning cloth, some kitchen roll and a care product. Suitable care products are available in retail stores and of course also at Geero. For these products and their easy use click here. The big advantage of these care products? You can use it to clean the frame and chain of your Geero e-bike. Important professional tip: Steam jets and high-pressure cleaners are not suitable for cleaning e-bikes! Why? These devices attack the electric motor, hubs, etc. Water gets in during cleaning, which in the worst case can result in a total electrical failure. In addition, the use of steam jets and high-pressure cleaners can cause rust to form. The chain – It runs like clockwork The chain of your Geero e-bike also needs care. This is the only way to ensure smooth functionality over the long term. After cleaning, you should definitely grease the chain with fresh oil. The following applies: less is more. When lubricating your chain, don't overdo it. You can also find chain oil at Geero. Braking – Intentional standstill Geero Pedelecs have hydraulic disc brakes. This means shorter braking distances and good braking effect even in wet conditions. What should you pay attention to when checking your brakes? The brake pad on the brake shoes should still be there. If the brake pads are completely worn out, i.e. metal rubs against metal, the brake discs will wear out more quickly and you may incur avoidable additional costs. You can also easily check the brake settings yourself: pull on both steering brake handles. Is the voltage the same for both? That's how it should be. For example, if the brakes are already too worn, the tension on the steering brake handles also decreases and comes very close to the handles when tightened. This means full braking performance is no longer guaranteed and only a specialist workshop can help. Tires – Pressure and tread are important If your Pedelec has been in hibernation, the tires may have lost some air. This is completely normal and quickly resolved. Every Geero tire has an indication of the minimum and maximum tire pressure on the side. Of course, tire pressure also depends on your e-bike model. Do you own a City or Touring model? Here we recommend between 3.5 and 5 bar. For the Geero original models, the tire pressure should be higher, at 5 to 6.5 bar. The appropriate pressure also depends on your body weight and the things you are transporting. The more weight, the more tire pressure. When it comes to tire tread, it is important to check the tread and side surfaces of the tires. Both should be the same depth. If both are heavily worn – change tires! Seat Height – your body thanks you A correctly adjusted, comfortable seat height is crucial for your driving pleasure. Who wants to risk knee and back problems? You can easily adjust the right seat height yourself. Important to know: When you kick, your knee should never be completely straight, but rather slightly bent in the lowest position. How do you best achieve this? Here's a professional trick: put your pedal in the lowest position and place your heel on it. To do this, your leg must be stretched. But when you put your leg in position for the ride, i.e. on the front part of your foot, you bend your leg slightly. And voilà, you have the correct sitting position. To visualise the steps just mentioned and for more details, watch this video: Service – Your e-bike in good hands You can simply have the points mentioned in the introduction - apart from basic cleaning - carried out in a specialist workshop of your choice and of course directly from Geero with a service. Attachments such as the chain, frame and sprockets are professionally cleaned, screws are tightened, the chain is lubricated, the tire pressure is checked and more. The big advantage? The professional recognizes possible defects and defects on your e-bike much faster and better. To do this, contact the Graz E-Bike Store directly in Austria. Independent of Geero, there is also the Bikerepair service. Here you can find bicycle repair shops near you to arrange a service appointment. In Germany, we work with our official Geero partner Yeply, who is the contact point for services. Yeply is a mobile bicycle workshop that carries out small repairs or services on your Geero e-bike directly at your location. You can find all the details about service and repairs on our homepage in the “Interesting information” section. Gears – Just get going Checking the gear settings is part of the all-round check. All you need to do is shift all gears up and down once during a short ride and see if they run smoothly. If yes: perfect. If the gears cause difficulties: It's good that you didn't just notice it while driving out. The setting of your gears needs to be adjusted? In this video, you will find useful tips. The professional in the specialist workshop is responsible for repairs to the gears of your Geero e-bike. Battery – Please charge! This point is short but important if tomorrow is the big day for your start to the e-bike season. Because then you should fully charge the battery today and get it ready for your first ride. Good tip: The battery should be charged in a dry environment and at room temperature. Lighting – Visibility at any time of day It cannot be emphasised often enough: good visibility is extremely important for your safety and that of other road users. Therefore, clean the headlights and reflectors of your e-bike regularly. By the way: Geero models without a permanently installed lighting system can easily be equipped with high-quality plug-in lights, such as the Sigma Sport light set AURA 30+ Curve. Safety – A helmet is useful as long as it protects Speaking of safety: Have you had your bike helmet for a while and are wondering whether it still offers enough protection? Helmet material fatigues over time. As a rule of thumb - depending on use and stress - you should replace your bicycle helmet approximately every five years. As manufacturers continually develop their helmets, new head protection not only offers a safe ride but often also means more comfort. At Geero you will also find a small but fine selection in stylish, unobtrusive designs. Important to know: After a fall, the head protection should definitely be replaced with a new one. Invisible damage such as hairline cracks may have occurred on your helmet and as a result, protection is no longer fully guaranteed. Spare parts & additional equipment – Well equipped for every situation Would you like to take advantage of the warmer temperatures to run errands with your Pedelec? Your Geero e-bike is designed so that bicycle baskets, bags and – now new to the range – lockable luggage rack tour boxes can be mounted easily and effortlessly. Do you also need accessories such as bicycle locks or cleaning and care products? At Geero you get everything in one without having to visit many different specialist stores. Also good to know: All spare parts are available at Geero. Have you been riding your e-bike for so long that you need new pedals? Or would you like to buy a second battery for particularly long bike tours? No matter what you need, click here and you will find it. Style – Cheers to the onion look Whenever you start your personal e-bike season: the right clothing is the be-all and end-all, although breathable clothing is always recommended. If there are major temperature fluctuations during the day and evening, such as in spring and autumn, you should use the so-called “onion look”, i.e. several layers of clothing, with the first layer, in particular, being breathable. Fitness, health & environment – The time is now Many bikers prefer to cycle when it is nice and pleasantly warm outside. Driving - if necessary - with a motorised tailwind is not only fun but at the same time you are doing something for your fitness and health as well as for the environment. So it’s a clear win-win-win situation. Cycling is one of the healthiest sports of all. It strengthens your immune system and general physical condition, gets your cardiovascular system going and much more. E-biking is also a sport. Just half an hour of quiet cycling every day will help you build muscle and reduce your weight slowly and sustainably. Anyone who tours with their e-bike also makes a valuable contribution to environmental and climate protection. It has been scientifically proven that e-bikes are very energy efficient and, thanks to their much lower CO2 emissions, are significantly more climate-friendly and environmentally friendly than cars and buses. For more information on the topic see here. Together, instead of alone – Socialising on the wheel of time Good relationships happen by themselves? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that? With your e-bike you can maintain relationships and strengthen your social life. Whether you're going on bike tours with the family, spontaneously cycling to meet up with friends or simply impressing your date with your environmentally conscious, casual Geero e-bike in a puristic retro look: your Pedelec won't let you down and also offers you the opportunity to be flexible and... to remain independent in your leisure activities. E-biking would only be for those who are comfortable, it is not sporty, it is not strenuous, and much more. We're not the first and we won't be the last, but we want to clear that up. Because there are many good and, above all, important reasons to get on your Geero e-bike and just start cycling. The fact is, … that everyone needs exercise. Yes, that's pretty obvious. But still: those who exercise regularly are proven to be less likely to get sick and feel more balanced, happier and more relaxed. Exercise gets your cardiovascular system going, strengthens your immune system and general physical condition, helps burn fat, and so on. Oh yes, exercise actually makes you smarter. Those who exercise regularly increase their cognitive performance. After exercising, our ability to concentrate is better and we can solve complex tasks more easily. Knowing is one thing, acting on it is another Even though we all know (well enough...) how important exercise is for the body, mind and psyche, we don't always easily incorporate it into our everyday lives. There are many reasons for that. Lack of time, tiredness, listlessness, the weather is not right, physical complaints, or simply the feeling that you are no longer as agile as you were a few years ago. Don't worry, this isn't some schoolmasterly swinging of the moral club. Let those of us who have never put forward any of the reasons mentioned cast the first stone. And of course it makes a difference whether a lack of motivation or physical pain is responsible for a lack of exercise. And this is where the e-bike comes into play. Riding an electric bike not only promotes a long-term desire for exercise, but is also ideal for fitness and health and proves to be optimal support even after operations. But what exactly do these advantages of e-biking look like? The power of motivation As mentioned, there are a number of studies that prove the benefits of e-bikes for fitness and health - for every age group. The following was published in the renowned European Journal of Applied Physiology. Researchers at the American University of Colorado have looked into the question of whether electric bikes can offer a full workout for people who don't do much exercise. To do this, 20 test subjects were asked to ride an e-bike for 40 minutes at least three times a week for a month. The requirement was that the study participants use pedelecs, i.e. e-bikes that do not drive themselves. The speed should be chosen according to individual well-being. A health check was carried out on all test subjects in advance. The result? All participants adhered to the time limit and most even sat on the bike for up to 50 percent longer than required. The intensity was also high. The average pulse was 75 percent of the respective maximum limit. And each and every one of them had significantly better fitness and health scores at the final health check. The motivation to exercise more often and for longer periods increased among all study participants. Easy Rider Research teams have also found that Pedelec owners use their electric bike 60 percent more than a bicycle. Why? Thanks to the technical support, headwinds, longer distances, inclines, etc. are no longer a deterrent and the radius of action increases without bikers having to push themselves to their limits. What e-bike riders save in terms of energy compared to cyclists, they compensate for by longer distances, more frequent and faster riding, and more meters of altitude covered. All in all, this results in a significant training effect and is perfect for building your fitness and muscle. With Geero e-bikes you have the additional advantage that you don't feel any resistance when you deactivate the motor. In so-called “freewheeling” it feels like you are riding a bicycle. Or to put it another way: You can use your Geero e-bike as sports equipment and when the power drops, you switch on the motor and can take it more comfortably. Fit and healthy, in tune with the times With an e-bike you can get your cardiovascular system healthy and, even if you're returning to exercise, you can always keep an eye on your physical stress. Although your blood pressure rises while e-biking, in the long term it drops to a lower level than if you don't do any exercise at all. The result? You protect your heart because it has to fight against less resistance. Driving regularly trains your heart muscle and supplies it with better blood flow. You prevent heart and vascular diseases. And very important: Even if you have existing heart disease, endurance sports can be recommended, as you can control your personal load so precisely with your Geero e-bike. Of course, you should consult your medical professional in advance. Nothing and no one brings you to your knees Our knee joints have to endure a lot in life. Excess weight, lack of exercise, but also the wrong strain during sport cause damaged joints. Our knee joints are not a rigid connection between the upper and lower leg bones, but resemble a complex hinge in which the bones that meet can move with and against each other. This is why, for example, standing for long periods of time is just as stressful for your knee as hard ground. Even when running, the knee does not move in a fixed path, but can swing sideways. Cycling is one of the most knee-friendly endurance sports. By pedalling in a fixed path, the knee cannot be twisted. Therefore, cycling is healthier and less painful than normal walking, even after knee surgery. Your Geero e-bike is also ideal for rehab after joint surgery, as your knee can be immediately relieved if problems arise while riding. Goodbye pain! Back pain? The main causes for this are incorrect or one-sided strain and too little exercise. If you put an incorrect strain on your back, you won't do your intervertebral discs any good. This is because the intervertebral discs change so much that they can no longer compensate for impacts on the spine. If you ride your Geero e-bike in a back-friendly way, you will strengthen your back and can even banish back problems from your life completely. Because when biking, your muscle groups along the spine are trained and the spring effect of your intervertebral discs is maintained. This way you won't run out of air Exercise strengthens lung function and, when done correctly, exercise can also reduce asthma problems. That's why asthmatics are now strongly recommended to do sports. But it depends on the right choice of sport. Running and jogging, for example, can provoke asthma because these sports expose the respiratory tract to particularly cold air. Swimming or cycling, on the other hand, are less likely to trigger the typical asthma symptoms and are also ideal for getting back into exercise. If you are an asthmatic and are travelling on your Geero e-bike, you have the great advantage that you can switch on the motor and immediately reduce the strain on your lungs and circulation. Let the pounds melt away Lose weight without the yo-yo effect and the agony of doing without too much? Yes that works. Regular, moderate exercise helps you reduce excess kilos and is more successful and healthier than any miracle diet. The magic word here is motivation. It is crucial for losing weight. An e-bike is a huge motivator. Just half an hour of quiet cycling every day will help you build muscle and reduce your weight slowly and sustainably. Stress-free and without a guilty conscience. If you need more support at the beginning, just switch on the motor of your Geero e-bike more often. With more fitness you also rely more on your own muscle strength. And the best part? The motivation is not lost because it is fun and the successes become more and more evident with each ride. By the way, sports scientists assume a consumption of 300 calories per hour of riding an e-bike. Ready to take action? If you're now in the mood to go on tour with an e-bike to give your fitness and health an upgrade: Geero e-bikes score points with their longevity, easy operation and robustness, among other things. One of the many other advantages of the Geero e-bike is that you can't see the "E" on it. It impresses with its puristic design with a hidden battery. Even the engine is so quiet that you can't hear it. It is of course important to choose the right model for you carefully in order to benefit from all the advantages of the e-bike. At Geero you have the opportunity to find out more online or in person. Test drives are also possible. <![CDATA[Low Step: Ease in everyday life]]> 2022-01-21T00:00:00+01:00 2022-01-21T00:00:00+01:00 https://www.geero.bike/info/geero-blog/low-step-ease-in-everyday-life Geero global@geero.bike https://www.geero.bike/ Cycling like before, only today? You see possibilities upon possibilities. What added value do Geero e-bikes with a low step offer? What should you pay attention to? What should you know? We will now summarise the most important benefits. Unrestricted mobility The biggest advantage of e-bikes is in the name. The “E” stands for “Electric” and this refers to electric motor support. Others also like to call it the “key to freedom and independence”. Because no route is too long, too difficult or too hilly. If you need support, simply switch on the motor. Thanks to the integrated freewheel, you can also use your Geero e-bike like a conventional bike, without any resistance. Practical security With Geero e-bikes you can travel safely even in the evening. True to the motto: see and be seen. Thanks to the permanently installed lighting system (rear and front) with reflectors on the tires and in the spokes. This means shorter braking distances and good braking effect even in wet conditions. The mounted mudguards expand your scope of action and make it easy to run short errands, even in wind and weather. Stay vital Users report that when they ride their Geero e-bike they don't realise that they are doing something for their health and fitness. Why? Because biking is simply fun. Knee and back problems or asthma do not pose an obstacle to driving pleasure. On the contrary, regular cycling is generally one of the healthiest endurance sports of all. The low step on Geero e-bikes offers the additional comfort that people with hip problems, for example, can easily get on the bike or get off more easily at traffic lights. Custom-fit additional equipment Would you like to transport shopping with your Geero e-bike? Bicycle baskets and bags can be easily mounted on your Geero e-bike. Do you need additional accessories? The only thing he wouldn't transport is an Ikea box on his bike. Karl doesn't like: cycling in really bad weather; When Thomas takes too many photos on vacation. Karl, how did you and your friend Thomas decide: Let's just go to Italy on a Geero? Karl: Thomas and I are actually hikers, we wanted to do the Dachstein tour. I just had problems with my knee. It was more of a joke when I said, let's go on a bike ride. I knew that Thomas wasn't a cyclist. But he got into it and already had a route ready: the Alpe Adria cycle path. I was worried about my knee and, just to be on the safe side, I tried cycling at home. It worked. Thomas came up with the idea of renting e-bikes from Geero in exchange for us reporting about our trip. Thomas didn't even have a bike at the time. How did loaning the Geeros go? Karl: We borrowed the e-bikes in Graz from the Geero E-Bike Store on Kärntner Straße. We received perfect training on how the bikes work and useful tips. So to speak, the dos and don'ts with the Geero. All settings were made, including the saddle and steering, which were tailored to suit us. We were told what to do if you got a flat tire and the like. Can you recommend the Alpe Adria cycle path for e-bike riders? Karl: Yes, definitely. We didn't take the original route, which goes from Salzburg city to Grado, but started in Spittal an der Drau. Instead of going to Grado, we travelled to Trieste and from there took the train back to Graz. In principle, the Alpe Adria cycle path is perfect for e-bike riders. There were also a lot of people out and about. I would have said that around 80 percent were travelling on their e-bikes. Was this your first vacation with an e-bike? Karl: That wasn't just my first vacation with an e-bike, it was the first time I ever rode an e-bike. So a complete newbie! Have you already gone on cycling holidays before? Karl: Honestly, no. For me, it was always a “senior citizen’s vacation”. Probably because my father does that every now and then, i.e. going on vacation with the e-bike for two to three days. Now that you've tried it out for yourself, do you still think the e-bike holiday is a senior cliché or have you changed your mind? Karl: It could definitely happen again that I go on vacation with the e-bike. Even though I'm still more of a hiker than a cyclist on vacation. But there are many wonderful cycle paths, I have to say. And you could also see it on the Alpe Adria cycle path: all age groups were represented. I did not expect that. The Alpe Adria cycle path is highly recommended. Also because there are relatively few gradients. But that doesn't matter with the e-bike anyway because you can switch on the motor. Speaking of the motor: Have you charged the battery every day? Karl: I drove relatively long distances without any motor support because it was a lot of downhill and the Geero drives really well even without electrical support. I wouldn't have expected an e-bike to be so smooth even without support. That's why I only switched on the engine when I was going uphill for a short time. That means I didn't have to charge the battery much. If you drive with battery support all the time, you would definitely have to charge it every day, but there is a socket everywhere in the accommodation and with the Geero you can simply remove the battery and take it with you to your room. Plugged it into the socket, job done. Because you talked about sections of the route with gradients: how did the motor perform there? Karl: No problem. We were very well informed in the e-bike store about which inclines or speeds you should switch on which motor level. Because it is of course better for the motor and battery to drive in the intended speed range. But for the climbs we had, I had no concerns at all that the engine power wouldn't be enough. And it must also be made clear: we were riding a Geero City model, not an e-mountain bike. It is not the purpose of the Geero City model to drive over the Großglockner. How many kilometres did you drive on average every day? Karl: We were on the road for five days in total. The longest daily stage was almost 100 kilometres, on the other days it was an average of between 60 and 70 kilometres. We didn't rush each other particularly much. If there was a nice spot, we took a break. And that wasn't a problem with your knee at all? Karl: No, I didn't have an acute injury. It has developed over time and occasionally causes pain. Especially when hiking, you have a specific load going downhill that causes the most pain. When cycling, the stress is completely different. Here only the force goes to the pedal and does not have to support the entire body weight. I'm repeating myself, but: With an e-bike you also have the big advantage that you can switch on the motor. How did you prepare for your tour? Karl: Overall, it wasn't difficult at all. We booked accommodation in advance because we didn't know how many people would be travelling. Of course, we also checked the train connections before the trip and researched how taking bikes with you works. Everything went very smoothly. And since it was our first vacation with an e-bike or a bike at all, we got some equipment that we didn't have. What equipment was necessary for the vacation? Karl: For example, I didn't have a pannier bag. I also bought a new helmet and more comfortable clothing for cycling, including cycling shorts. I didn't have that because I've never been an excursion cyclist, but rather an everyday cyclist. Oh yes, we also got a holder for GPS trackers. So just little things that I haven't needed yet. Did you also have an emergency kit with you? Karl: Sure. Repair kit for the bike, just enough to get you to the next town if something were to happen. For example, we had an air pump with us and also a small multitool so that we could tighten a screw if something became loose. A first aid kit and bandages were of course also in the luggage. What do you have to consider when transporting your e-bike by train? Karl: Train transport is not expensive at all. It was four or five euros one way. The only thing to consider is how much space each train has for bicycles. Because some trains have a separate carriage just for bicycles, other trains only have one compartment in a carriage where you can hang the bicycles. Were you able to park your Geeros safely in the Italian accommodation? Karl: There was always a way to park the e-bike safely. There was a corresponding bike cellar or storage room for bikes almost everywhere. The local businesses have adapted to the fact that many people travel by bike and also offer appropriate options. Many also provide basic tools such as air pumps. In some areas, there was also a small bicycle repair shop next to the café, where you can get small things fixed quickly while you comfortably drink a coffee. How did you protect the e-bikes from theft? Karl: We also locked the Geeros in the storage rooms with a more solid lock. Just as a precautionary measure. We also always made sure that we didn't have to chain the e-bikes somewhere out on the street. At one point we had to carry our bikes up to the third floor. In an apartment in Trieste that was converted into a bed and breakfast. But with the Geero it was possible because it is relatively light for an e-bike. Did you also find out in advance whether there is a helmet requirement in Italy, for example, or about the StVO? Karl: For me, the question of riding without a helmet never arose. It doesn't hurt to wear one. It only hurts when you fall and don't have anyone on. I did a bit of research into what the StVO looks like and what the bike should be like. But this is pretty consistent across the EU. Geeros are equipped according to the Austrian StVO and that's why there was no problem with it in Italy. Finally: What tips would you like to give other Geero holidaymakers? Karl: Be sure to test in advance whether your butt can handle sitting in the saddle for a few hours a day at a time. Otherwise, you may want to upgrade to a more comfortable saddle. There is simply a difference between cycling to do the shopping twice a week and cycling 50 to 100 kilometres for a few days. Also, try out what daily output you yourself – and the e-bike battery – can comfortably achieve without overexerting yourself. A vacation is not a performance competition and you should have a little reserve for the unexpected, or simply a relaxing coffee in between. Also: check the bike yourself beforehand or have it checked. And be equipped when traveling so that you can carry out small repairs yourself if necessary. An emergency kit such as basic tools, repair kits, pumps or first aid should always be with you. A fall or a small defect on the bike can happen quickly. Also important: take as much luggage as necessary but as little luggage as possible. The less luggage you have with you, the easier it is to travel. Also, check in advance what the road traffic is like in the country you are travelling to. In Italy, for example, road traffic, especially in inner cities, works a little differently than here. Traffic lights are often only perceived as rough recommendations. <![CDATA[Beautifully Mobile – In Every Situation]]> 2022-01-20T00:00:00+01:00 2022-01-20T00:00:00+01:00 https://www.geero.bike/info/geero-blog/beautifully-mobile-in-every-situation Geero global@geero.bike https://www.geero.bike/ Have you ever dreamed of being able to ride your bike quickly and easily through the city, save time and do your errands without stress?
